I prepaid for our class to receive a Weekly Reader subscription. By doing this ahead of time, the issues will start sooner. I divided the total by the number of kids and it came out to $5.50 each. If you could bring this with you to Open House (cash, please), that would be awesome!
I am a mother of 3 beautiful children. Bobby is going into 4th grade, Riley is going into first grade, and Reagan will be 3 in January. I will never tell your child that he/she is not allowed to use the restroom. However, we only have 1 restroom in our classroom. If your child is anything like mine, he/she might wait until the last minute, not wanting to stop what he/she is doing long enough to use the restroom. And if it is occupied.... well, then we have an accident. Or if we're outside and it takes too long to walk to the nearest restroom... you get the idea. So, please bring in a ziplock bag with a change of clothes for your child and discuss with your child the importance of using the restroom as needed, not to wait and do the "I gotta go" dance.
The last request is that you join PTA this year. My husband and I are both joining so that both of my boys get credit for class participation. It is $5.00 each, checks made payable to Collins PTA. So my check is for 10 bucks & is money well spent! They do many programs for our youngsters as well as the teachers. I hope to see as many of you as possible at the monthly meetings, that are optional, of course. I know that can be difficult during the work week, especially if your house is like mine (baseball, piano, karate, etc.).
